Some watch brands don’t need to shout — their legacy does the talking. At this year’s Windup Watch Fair in Chicago (July 11–13, 2025), I had the opportunity to represent WatchDNA and meet with Jennifer Sanvenancio Gorris from Vulcain Watches, a brand with deep historical roots and a refreshed vision for the modern collector.
Our conversation, which offered a look at the timepieces featured at the booth, reflected a balance between honouring their iconic past and embracing bold new aesthetics. In our full video interview, Jennifer and I dive deeper into this journey.
What Caught My Eye
Jennifer presented a curated selection of standout models to Windup, and each one revealed a different dimension of Vulcain’s evolving identity.
Skindiver GMT – Purple
This vibrant take on the Skindiver GMT caught immediate attention with its deep purple dial and bezel. Powered by an automatic Swiss movement, it retains classic Skindiver lines with the added utility of a GMT complication — a stylish companion for travel without sacrificing vintage diving charm.
Cricket President Collection
The heart of Vulcain’s legacy lives in the Cricket — the mechanical alarm watch once worn by U.S. Presidents. With its soft hue, compact sizing, and classic styling, it offers a refined, wearable tribute to Vulcain’s mid-century roots.
Skindiver Chronograph Meteorite
A fusion of rugged functionality and cosmic material, the Skindiver Chrono Meteorite is nothing short of a statement piece. The textured meteorite dial is otherworldly, and the chronograph layout is both balanced and bold. For those who love watches that spark conversation, this one delivers.
Vulcain isn’t just leaning on its history — it’s evolving thoughtfully. At Windup Watch Fair, the brand showed that it still has plenty to say, and it's doing so with colour, character, and craft.
Time is more than seconds ticking away. It is a catalyst for transformation.
