THE HEARTBEAT OF TORONTO: WHEN FOREVER LASTED EIGHTEEN INNINGS

THE HEARTBEAT OF TORONTO: WHEN FOREVER LASTED EIGHTEEN INNINGS

It was the kind of night that turns ordinary fans into insomniacs.

Game 3 of the 2025 World Series, in Los Angeles, between the L.A. Dodgers and the Toronto Blue Jays. Eighteen full innings of baseball - tied for the longest in World Series history. Fans nursing heart palpitations into the late night (west coast) and early morning (east coast). Toronto Blue Jays fans hadn’t seen this kind of collective tension since that Carter home run in 1993. Time stretched, folded, and looped back on itself which, if you think about it, makes it the perfect setup for a story about MLB watches.

And then came Game 7.

Under the bright lights of Rogers Centre, the Blue Jays were so close. The game stretched into the 11th inning; another battle of endurance and heart. In the bottom of the 11th, with the bases loaded and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. on third, every fan was on their feet. One swing could have tied it, maybe even rewritten history. But baseball, like time, has its own rhythm. The final out sealed the Dodgers’ win, yet Toronto walked away with pride.

After one of the longest and most dramatic World Series in history, from 18 innings in Los Angeles to 11 in Toronto, this team reminded us what it means to fight until the very end. Thank you, Blue Jays, for an unforgettable season for keeping time, and keeping hope, alive.

When you follow the World Series, you live by innings, not hours. You don’t count seconds you count pitches. And somewhere between the bottom of the fifteenth and your third reheated coffee, the idea of keeping time suddenly feels poetic. Enter the world of MLB-licensed watches: those rare objects that let you measure the day while quietly broadcasting which team owns your heart.

Officially licensed MLB watches sit in that strange middle ground between fashion statement and emotional souvenir. For Blue Jays fans, they’re a subtle badge of belonging, wearable proof that you’ve survived both the cold April starts and those October nights that just won’t end. These aren’t the plastic freebies from a stadium giveaway; they’re legit, properly built timepieces that happen to carry a little piece of the team with them.

When shopping for an MLB-licensed watch, it pays to look beyond the logo and think about what you’re actually getting. No matter who you're cheering on, start with authenticity make sure the piece clearly states it’s officially licensed by Major League Baseball™. The team branding should be crisp, accurate, and in the style you prefer, whether it’s the modern or a nostalgic retro mark. Build quality matters too: stainless steel cases, genuine leather or solid bracelets, and a proper crystal make all the difference between a keepsake and a gimmick. Most models use quartz movements, but some include chronograph sub-dials, date windows, or textured dials for extra flair. Consider how it fits both literally and stylistically. Do you want a rugged, sporty look for game day or something refined enough for the office? Limited-edition runs and numbered cases add collector appeal, while pricing varies from affordable fan gear to premium commemoratives. The key is finding the one you’ll actually wear because a true fan’s watch should feel as comfortable in the stands as it does at dinner.

Take my personal favorite, the Toronto Blue Jays Chronograph Leather Band Watch from The Bradford Exchange. It’s the gentleman fan’s answer to the rally towel: a stainless-steel case, genuine leather strap, and just enough blue-and-white to make your allegiances clear without shouting across the bar. It’s limited to 1,977 pieces a nod to the year the Jays first took the field of course which gives it a collector’s aura. It’s the kind of watch you could wear to a client meeting and still wink to the faithful when the conversation turns to baseball.

If you want something more democratic, Timex has made an art of translating fandom into wristwear. Their Toronto Blue Jays Clutch Watch and Team Recruit Watch are perfect for the everyday supporter who still wants to check the score between meetings. They’re practical, quartz-driven, and surprisingly handsome the horological equivalent of a solid middle reliever: dependable, underrated, and always there when needed.

For those leaning into style, the Timex Citation steps it up with a cleaner dial and a bit more polish, while the Athena Royal Blue edition gives female fans something elegant that still shows pride. And the Toronto Pride Watch? That’s your weekend go-to. It’s casual, vivid, and built for the kind of summer days when the dome’s open and everything smells faintly of sunscreen and hot dogs.

But perhaps you’re after something bolder a watch that feels like a home-run swing. Invicta fits that brief perfectly. It’s larger, more muscular, and unapologetically loud. Think of it as the Vladimir Guerrero Jr. of watches: not shy about making an entrance. Oversized, it wears like a championship ring for the wrist. The Blue Jays logo sits proudly on a dial framed by industrial-grade detailing, often with chronograph sub-dials and luminous accents that feel more like equipment than jewelry. It’s not subtle and that’s precisely the point. For fans who like their accessories loud, Invicta delivers the horological equivalent of a bat-flip in extra innings. It’s a statement piece that says you don’t just follow the team you live it.

Finally, there’s the Game Time collection affordable, accessible, and undeniably enthusiastic. The brand’s licensed Blue Jays watch might not compete with Swiss precision, but it nails the spirit. It’s for the fans who just want to wear their loyalty on their sleeve or in this case, their wrist without worrying about scuffing it while grilling during the seventh inning stretch.

Each of these watches tells a slightly different version of the same story: time as fandom. Because being a Blue Jays supporter has always required patience. Sometimes absurd patience. The kind of patience that carries you through an 18-inning standoff, through bullpen collapses and late-inning miracles. Owning an official watch is a reminder that the clock is always ticking toward the next first pitch.

The best part is how wearable these things are, for only a small fraction of the cost of World Series ticket. You could slip on the Bradford Exchange chronograph with a suit and not look out of place. You could wear the Timex Recruit to the ballpark without worrying about beer spray. You could even collect them all one for the heartbreak seasons, one for the hopeful ones, and maybe one for that inevitable day when the Jays hoist the trophy again.

Time and baseball have always had an understanding. No clocks on the field, but plenty of them in our lives. And when you find yourself wearing one with a blue jay on the dial, it’s not just about knowing what time it is. It’s about remembering where you were when the innings wouldn’t end, and who you were cheering for when they finally did.

Because, as every Toronto fan knows, sometimes forever lasts exactly eighteen innings! Thank you to the Blue Jays for pouring their hearts into every moment and taking us on an unforgettable roller coaster of emotion.
