RADO DIASTAR ORIGINAL SKELETON A TRILOGY OF COLOR, INNOVATION, AND ICONIC DESIGN

RADO DIASTAR ORIGINAL SKELETON A TRILOGY OF COLOR, INNOVATION, AND ICONIC DESIGN

For more than six decades, the DiaStar has held a unique place within the universe of Rado. Since its debut in 1962, the model has become a symbol of durability, material innovation, and futuristic design. Now, in 2026, the Swiss brand once again reimagines its icon with a collection that is more expressive, contemporary, and bold.

The new DiaStar Original Skeleton Limited Edition trilogy introduces three vibrant versions in blue, green, and red, each limited to only 555 pieces. The result is a collection that preserves the historical DNA of the watch while pushing it into a more modern aesthetic defined by color, mechanical transparency, and a stronger sense of personality.

A classic reinvented for a new generation

At first glance, the new DiaStar Original Skeleton remains instantly recognizable. The iconic tonneau silhouette, faceted crystal, and signature bezel are still present, now enhanced by a skeletonized architecture and a more intense use of color.

The key technical highlight remains the Ceramos™ bezel, Rado’s innovative material that combines ceramic hardness with the metallic sheen of an advanced alloy. Beyond its refined appearance, it delivers the exceptional scratch resistance that has historically defined the DiaStar.

Green: disruptive energy

The green version is arguably the boldest in the collection. The vivid green dial ring contrasts with the yellow gold toned bezel and red Super-LumiNova details, creating a striking and modern visual identity. The skeletonized movement in a golden tone adds depth and dimension, while the green rubber strap reinforces its dynamic and confident character.

Blue: refined modernity

The blue model offers a cleaner and more technical interpretation of the concept. The blue dial ring and yellow luminous accents create a precise and contemporary aesthetic, paired with a skeletonized movement finished in rhodium. The blue rubber strap completes a design that feels elegant, sporty, and highly modern.

Red: a bold statement

The red edition pushes the DiaStar concept into a more intense visual dimension. The red dial ring combined with green luminous details creates an explosive contrast that completely transforms the watch’s personality. Together with the red rubber strap and the visible skeletonized movement, this version stands as the most daring of the trilogy.

The skeletonized movement as the centerpiece

Beyond color, the defining feature of this collection is its skeletonized architecture. Rado uses the automatic calibre R808, a movement that offers up to 80 hours of power reserve and includes a Nivachron™ anti-magnetic balance spring.

The open construction of the calibre allows a full view of its internal mechanics, adding a more technical and contemporary feel to the DiaStar. This combination of visible movement and bold color completely transforms the visual experience of the watch.

Technical specifications

The new DiaStar Original Skeleton Limited Edition features a 38 mm stainless steel case with a thickness of 11.9 mm and a total weight of 70.5 grams. It combines a Ceramos™ bezel with a faceted sapphire crystal and a transparent sapphire case back that reveals the automatic Rado calibre R808. This movement delivers up to 80 hours of power reserve, is tested in five positions, and includes a Nivachron™ anti-magnetic hairspring for improved precision and resistance. The watch is completed with a technical rubber strap designed for comfort and durability in daily wear.

A new era for the DiaStar

With this Skeleton trilogy, Rado proves that the DiaStar remains one of the most experimental and futuristic designs in contemporary Swiss watchmaking. Rather than relying only on nostalgia, the brand uses color, transparency, and advanced materials to reinterpret its icon in a completely fresh way.

The result is a colorful, technical, and provocative collection that confirms that iconic designs do not need to remain unchanged to preserve their identity. Sometimes, radical evolution is the best way to honor the past.
