ORIS KELP FOREST: A WATCH THAT GIVES A VOICE TO UNDERWATER FORESTS
Oris returns to marine conservation with the Kelp Forest Limited Edition, a special version of the Aquis Date that combines dive watch design with a message focused on protecting the oceans. Limited to 1,000 individually numbered pieces, this 41.50 mm model aims to raise awareness of the importance of underwater kelp forests and their role in maintaining environmental balance.
A Dial Inspired by the Depths
The most distinctive feature of the Kelp Forest Limited Edition is its green dial, whose surface is 3D printed to recreate the movement of kelp swaying in underwater currents. Green and gold tones evoke this environment, while the gold outlines of the hands and luminous indexes enhance the visual effect as they reflect light.
The stainless steel case features a sapphire crystal domed on both sides, with an interior anti-reflective coating, and offers water resistance to 30 bar, equivalent to 300 metres. It also features a unidirectional rotating bezel with a green ceramic insert and minute scale, along with a protected screw-down crown. The watch is completed by a three-link stainless steel bracelet with brushed and polished finishes, as well as a folding clasp with quick-adjustment and quick-change systems.

Swiss Mechanics for Every Adventure
Inside, the watch houses the Oris 733-1 automatic movement, a Swiss calibre with central hours, minutes, and seconds hands, along with an instantaneous date and date corrector. It operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a power reserve of 41 hours.
The case back is engraved with a kelp motif alongside the limited-edition numbering, a detail that connects the watch's identity with the cause it represents.

The Importance of Protecting Kelp Forests
Behind this edition is a conservation story that Oris shares through its ambassador Francis Pérez, an award-winning underwater photographer with three decades of experience photographing the ocean. Pérez has witnessed the deterioration of kelp forests, ecosystems that play an important role in carbon capture and, according to the information provided by the brand, produce around 2% of the world's oxygen.
The disappearance of vast areas of these forests highlights the need to protect them. With this release, Oris aims to take the conversation beyond watchmaking and bring it closer to those who value the ocean and its biodiversity.

A Commitment That Goes Beyond Design
The Oris Kelp Forest Limited Edition combines the characteristics of an Aquis Date dive watch with a dial that represents a threatened ecosystem. Its 1,000 individually numbered pieces make this edition a proposal that connects watchmaking engineering with an environmental message: a reminder that protecting the oceans also means recognising the value of the ecosystems beneath their surface.
