BLANCPAIN AND HAUTE GASTRONOMY: 40 YEARS OF A SHARED STORY OF EXCELLENCE

For four decades, Blancpain has shared a unique story of friendship and passion with some of the most celebrated names in global haute gastronomy. To celebrate 40 years of this relationship, the Maison introduces a new video series featuring its partner chefs, who share their personal stories, inspirations and experiences. This celebration highlights the connection between Haute Horlogerie and Haute Gastronomie, two worlds united by the pursuit of excellence, precision, craftsmanship and emotion.

Blancpain’s relationship with gastronomy is part of its Art of Living universe, an initiative that for 40 years has brought together some of the greatest international chefs around shared values. More than simple collaborators, these chefs have become true friends of the Maison, united by a vision built on dedication, respect for tradition and the importance of every detail.

Four decades of a relationship built on excellence

Blancpain’s connection with haute gastronomy began in 1986, when the Maison honored its friend Frédy Girardet with a specially engraved watch to celebrate his recognition as World’s Best Chef. In 1989, Blancpain once again marked a historic moment in culinary history when Frédy Girardet, Paul Bocuse and Joël Robuchon were named Chefs of the Century.

Since then, the relationship between Blancpain and international gastronomy has continued to grow with the arrival of great names interested in sharing the values of the brand and becoming part of its universe. This community has evolved to include more than 100 Michelin stars among the Maison’s current and past friends and partners, as well as collaborations with the Bocuse d’Or culinary competition and prestigious Relais & Châteaux hotel establishments.

The connection between Haute Horlogerie and Haute Gastronomie comes from a shared philosophy. Both worlds require respect for heritage and origins, absolute attention to quality and a commitment to mastering every gesture. Whether creating a timepiece or preparing an internationally recognized dish, perfection comes from patience, precision and passion.

A new series dedicated to the Art of Living universe

To commemorate its 40 years of connection with gastronomy, Blancpain presents a new video series dedicated to its Art of Living universe. This production offers a closer look at the chefs who represent the values shared by the Maison, highlighting their memories, personal stories, inspirations and culinary philosophies.

The series begins with a retrospective video that explores four decades of collaboration between Blancpain and gastronomy. Through archival images and historical moments, the production highlights the origins and evolution of a relationship that continues to be part of the brand’s DNA.

Throughout this journey, Blancpain’s partner chefs have worn different models from the Maison, from the adventurous Fifty Fathoms and Bathyscaphe collections to the classic Villeret line, reflecting the diversity of Blancpain’s watchmaking universe and the personal connection between the brand and its friends.

An international community of Michelin-starred chefs

Blancpain’s Art of Living universe includes a community of internationally recognized chefs. Among them is Martín Berasategui, the Spanish chef with the most Michelin stars in his country; Julien Royer, the French chef who named his Singapore restaurant Odette after his grandmother; Glenn Viel, the French chef from the three-star L’Oustau de Baumanière restaurant; Hideaki Matsuo, the Japanese chef recognized for his commitment to sustainable fisheries; and Mathias Sühring and Thomas Sühring, the German twin chefs based in Thailand.

The community also includes Christopher Coutanceau, the French chef and advocate for marine sustainability; Christophe Hay, known for his self-sufficient approach and ownership of a Wagyu cattle herd; Rui Paula, whose cuisine is strongly connected to the Atlantic Ocean; Dominik Sato and Fabio Toffolon, the Swiss twin chefs who promote minimalist elegance; Holger Bodendorf, the German chef and hotelier; Son Jongwon, the South Korean chef focused on modern, seasonal and sustainable cuisine; and Juan Amador, one of the leading figures in contemporary European gastronomy.

Recently, Blancpain welcomed new talents based in Switzerland into its Art of Living universe. Olivier Jean, Titouan Claudet, Peter Knogl and Charline Pichon joined this family, further strengthening the Maison’s connection with Switzerland’s exceptional gastronomic scene.

Olivier Jean, Executive Chef at The Woodward Hotel and L’Atelier Robuchon in Geneva, bases his culinary philosophy on simplicity, seasonality and respect for exceptional ingredients. Titouan Claudet, who leads the pastry program at The Woodward Hotel, combines artistic vision and technical mastery to create desserts inspired by nature, art and the world of watchmaking.

Peter Knogl, chef of Cheval Blanc by Peter Knogl at the Grand Hôtel Les Trois Rois in Basel, has been awarded three Michelin stars and highlights the connection between his cuisine and watchmaking through precision and the importance of every element working perfectly together. Meanwhile, Charline Pichon, Head Sommelier at Restaurant de l’Hôtel de Ville de Crissier, represents excellence in wine pairing and the creation of memorable gastronomic experiences.

Blancpain and the art of creating unique experiences

The celebration of 40 years of Blancpain’s relationship with haute gastronomy represents a story built on friendship, passion and shared values. Through its Art of Living universe and its international community of chefs, the Maison continues to highlight the connection between two disciplines where precision, creativity and dedication are essential.

This new video series invites audiences to discover the stories behind some of the exceptional culinary talents who are part of the Blancpain world, showing how Haute Horlogerie and Haute Gastronomie meet through a constant pursuit of excellence.
