Marathon Watch Company traces its roots to 1904, when Hersh Wein founded Weinstrum Watch. His son Morris Wein founded Marathon in Montreal in 1939, and by 1941 the brand was supplying wristwatches and timing instruments to Allied forces.
Today Marathon is headquartered in Vaughan, Canada, and assembles its watches in its own factory in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. It still develops and supplies timepieces under contract to the Canadian, U.S. and British governments and other Allied forces.
The range is built around three families: the Search and Rescue (SAR) dive watches, the Navigator pilot watches and the General Purpose field watches, lit with tritium gas tubes and MaraGlo luminescence.
Celebrate Canada Day 2025 with the official release of the limited-edition ADANAC Red Maple SSNAV-D Auto. Limited to just 500 pieces, each piece includes a side case engraving of Marathon's historic ADANAC branding. This special edition watch is also highlighted with:
- The Dial: A crisp Arctic white backdrop adorned with a red maple leaf, inspired by the centre of the flag.
- The Bezel: A striking red bezel wraps the dial, just like the flag’s outer bars
- The Strap: Red and white nylon with blue accents, a tribute to the flag’s colourway and the blue skies the flag and Navigators fly in.
- The Crown: Adorned with the maple leaf, honouring an emblem that’s united a nation for decades.
