Marathon 41mm CeraShell Quartz NAV on Ballistic Nylon Strap
Marathon Watch Company traces its roots to 1904, when Hersh Wein founded Weinstrum Watch. His son Morris Wein founded Marathon in Montreal in 1939, and by 1941 the brand was supplying wristwatches and timing instruments to Allied forces.
Today Marathon is headquartered in Vaughan, Canada, and assembles its watches in its own factory in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. It still develops and supplies timepieces under contract to the Canadian, U.S. and British governments and other Allied forces.
The range is built around three families: the Search and Rescue (SAR) dive watches, the Navigator pilot watches and the General Purpose field watches, lit with tritium gas tubes and MaraGlo luminescence.
The Marathon Pilot’s Navigator was developed in partnership with Kelly Air Force Base in 1986. The objective then remains today: a pilot’s watch with uncompromising quartz accuracy—capable of withstanding extreme altitude changes.
The case of the newly-issued 41mm NAV is constructed with CeraShell®—Marathon’s proprietary case construction made up of bio-sourced plastic and ceramic powder, with an aluminum bezel.
The CeraShell version of the Navigator has been enhanced with:
- Removable spring bars
- Radial mounted tritium tube insert, affixed into the bezel pip (improved visibility and protection)
- An aluminum bezel to deliver a more tactile rotation
This evolution of the Navigator lightens the mission load while upholding the durability and reliability Navigators are known for.
