Sartory-Billard presents the SB10 Jumping Hour “Disco Ball,” a watch that brings to life an idea born from a nearly impossible project, the SB08. This 2024 concept, too complex to produce, left a clear mark: a new way to read time, more visual, fluid, and deeply connected to material.
The SB10 is not a simplification. It is a distillation of that vision. A watch that transforms a high watchmaking dream into a tangible piece, faithful to the brand’s creative DNA.
A New Way to Read Time
The SB10 reinvents the jumping hour complication with a more intuitive approach. At six o’clock, a large aperture reveals the hour on a sapphire disc with oversized numerals for immediate legibility. This choice breaks the limitations of traditional jumping hour watches where visibility is often reduced.
Instead of hands, time is displayed through two ultra-thin sapphire discs. The hour disc jumps instantly every 60 minutes, creating a precise and almost theatrical effect. Meanwhile, the minute disc rotates continuously around the central cabochon. This contrast creates a unique rhythm between time that jumps and time that flows.
The minute ring, coated in Super-LumiNova, tracks the passage of time with a red marker that offers clear daytime readability. At night, it transforms into an intense turquoise halo surrounding the cabochon, creating an almost hypnotic visual experience.
Between Watchmaking and Jewelry
One of the most distinctive features of the SB10 is the absence of a traditional dial. A cabochon takes center stage as both a visual and tactile element. It is not just functional but emotional, creating a connection between the wearer and the watch.
The “Disco Ball” version features a guilloché cabochon with hundreds of micro-facets that capture and scatter light with every movement. The result is a living surface that can be seen and felt.
This design links watchmaking with jewelry. The SB10 is no longer just an instrument to read time; it is an object that invites touch and interaction.
Mechanical Architecture
Beneath its minimalist design, the SB10 has a solid mechanical construction. It is powered by the automatic G100 calibre from La Joux-Perret with a 55-hour power reserve and a patented jumping hour module that ensures precise hour changes.
The 39.5 mm stainless steel 316L case has polished and brushed finishes. Its proportions enhance readability and wrist presence. The thickness of 11.5 mm and 44 mm lug-to-lug distance ensure comfort and balance.
The watch has an 80-meter water resistance and comes with options for a rubber strap or stainless steel bracelet. Both feature quick-release systems for easy and versatile changes.
A Watch to Feel
The SB10 has its own rhythm. The hour jumps, the minutes rotate, and the central material invites touch. More than showing time, it creates a different experience. Touching the cabochon becomes part of the interaction.
The SB10 does not only tell time. It invites you to feel it.
