Miki Eleta handcrafts contemporary timepieces in the tradition of Swiss haute horlogerie, each complex piece a unique work of art produced only once. Every new creation is driven by his deep fascination for time measurement, innovation and kinetic art, and there are no limits to his desire to look for new technical challenges, unique emotional displays and fascinating contemporary designs. He was born in 1950 in Visegrad, in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and has lived in Switzerland since 1973; starting in 1996 he worked mainly on kinetic art and clock building, through exhibitions and various commissions for interior rooms and exterior areas, and since 2004 has concentrated mainly on private orders and exhibitions relating to clockmaking. His life experiences are closely related to his creations, each contributing to the next personal or technical evolution.

His philosophy is summed up in his own words: 'I do not respect the idea that nothing is unknown.' As he describes the work — writing down notes on a piece of paper, holding on to the ideas, bringing reality and inspiration closer to each other, subordinating himself to the play of cogwheels and levers, producing all components himself and learning new techniques — unknown ways open and ideas flash through his mind. He loves the process and welcomes the difficulties, because they do not occur by chance: manufacturing a clock means, to him, feeling life and adventure. He respects all that has been invented so far, but never stops searching for surprises, new forms, unknown movements and presentations — the realisation of imagination. Clocks have entered his world of kinetic art and sounds and remain there, and all his works are unique: he accepts no repetition in any case, because there is enough fantasy, inspiration, enthusiasm and motivation. His recent creations include the clock The Frog Queen, and his first twenty years of work are collected in the photo book 'Miki Eleta, Unique Timepieces'.
