Berneron is an independent Swiss watchmaking house founded on what it calls an absolute refusal to comply, its signature lying in a fierce determination to create freely and without compromise, venturing into the unknown through unbridled artistic expression. Creative director and co-founder Sylvain Berneron was trained in fine arts and industrial design and was scouted by BMW, where he began his career as a working student at the age of 19 before spending several years there as a designer. After five years at the Richemont Group as a design manager and another five as Chief Product Officer at Breitling, he came to realise he needed the kind of creative freedom a large corporate structure cannot give: September 2022 is the turning point at which he decided to create the company Berneron SA. He has been an Academy Member of the GPHG since 2023. His co-founder Marie-Alix Berneron, who holds a double degree from a major business school and worked for several years in luxury goods, in particular at Chanel Horlogerie in product development, before retraining as an architect, supports him on graphics, design and brand vision.
The house conceives, develops, manufactures and assembles its timepieces entirely in the cantons of Neuchâtel and Jura, at the heart of the historic Swiss watchmaking region, having built strong bonds with local artisans in order to support the local economy and perpetuate traditional know-how. Its philosophy is one of short steps and long vision: to guarantee impeccable craftsmanship, high-quality service and strong collectability, production is limited to between 24 and 36 pieces per year per model, with a target of approximately 600 pieces annually by 2035. The brand's signature creation is the 34 mm Mirage, offered with dials in materials such as lapis lazuli and tiger eye. In April 2025 Berneron opened a 650 m² facility in Neuchâtel.
