EDOX DELFIN 1973: A NEW ERA FOR THE ICON OF “THE WATER CHAMPION”

In 2026, EDOX celebrates 65 years of the Delfin collection, one of the most important lines in the Swiss brand’s history. First introduced in 1961, the Delfin helped establish EDOX’s reputation as “The Water Champion”, thanks to its innovative construction featuring a double case back and specially designed sealing systems that provided exceptional water resistance.

More than six decades later, the collection continues to evolve with the new Delfin 1973, a modern interpretation that preserves the essence of the original model while introducing an updated design and a new identity.

Delfin 1973: a contemporary reinterpretation

Inspired by the 1973 model, the new Delfin 1973 brings back one of its most recognizable elements: the distinctive dodecagonal bezel. However, this new generation is not intended to be a simple reissue, but rather a complete evolution of the original concept.

The case has been redesigned with sharper lines and modern proportions, while the dial introduces a new embossed finish created through a technical process that produces a horizontal texture inspired by the wave patterns of a sandy seabed. This detail adds depth, character, and a direct visual connection to the ocean, reinforcing the aquatic identity that has always defined the collection.

A collection ready for new generations

The Delfin 1973 is available in different configurations to suit a variety of styles. The collection includes automatic versions, quartz models with date, and a chronograph, with sizes ranging from 32 mm for women to 43 mm for the chronograph version.

The 41 mm automatic model is powered by the EDOX 80 calibre based on the Sellita SW200, offering hours, minutes, and seconds functions. Its stainless steel case with PVD coating features a sapphire crystal, transparent case back, screw-down crown, double O-ring seals, and water resistance of 200 meters (20 ATM). Available with black, blue, silver, and green dials, it can be paired with either a metal bracelet or a rubber strap.

The Delfin spirit continues to move forward

With the new Delfin 1973, EDOX demonstrates how a historic design can evolve without losing its identity. Preserving the elements that made the collection legendary while introducing new aesthetic and technical solutions, this model represents a new chapter for one of the brand’s most iconic timepieces.

The Delfin 1973 does not simply look back at the past. It continues moving forward with the same spirit of resistance, innovation, and connection to the world of water that has defined EDOX since its beginnings.
