Since 1973 Timberland has crafted durable footwear, clothing and accessories built for work, outdoor exploration and everyday adventures. At the heart of the brand's story is a community — several communities — stepping outside to work hard together and move the world forward, embracing the adventures on their path with grit and a relentless dedication to problem solving.
The brand traces its roots to New England: without the region's fierce and demanding environs, it argues, there would be no Timberland. It started by equipping workers to power through the toughest outdoor environments, and ever since the day it created its first yellow boot it has been inspired by that gritty New England tendency to think outside the box and create innovative solutions to everyday problems. Its icons are the Original Timberland boot, the 3-Eye Lug Handsewn boat shoe and the Euro Hiker. From the start the company used its products to solve problems, a dedication that grew into solving problems for its communities.
Timberland watches are produced under licence rather than by the company itself, and they are sold through authorised watch retailers rather than through the brand’s own stores. The current range is built around men’s quartz watches with Japanese movements and stainless steel cases, typically between 43mm and 48mm, on leather straps, with water resistance of 3 to 5 ATM — an accessible, rugged-looking segment that mirrors the brand’s outdoor positioning rather than competing with traditional watchmaking.
Model families carry place names, several of them New England towns: Ashmont, Northbridge, Driscoll, Parkman, Henniker II, Williston and Ripgorge. The Ashmont is the clearest statement of what a Timberland watch is meant to be — a dual-time model in a 44 x 54mm stainless steel case with prominent pushers and a polished and brushed finish, a matte black dial with gunmetal indexes under flat mineral glass, and a tachymeter ring. Its tan-brown leather strap is cut from the same premium leather as the brand’s boots, which is the most direct link between the two halves of the company: the watch is finished with the material the company built its name on.
