TAOS is an independent Geneva watchmaking brand founded by Olivier Gaud in partnership with Olivier and Dominique Vaucher, whose atelier — established over 46 years ago — employs more than 40 artisans across 15 different trades and sits at the centre of Geneva's world of exceptional horological creation. The brand was born from a shared passion to promote and transcend the Métiers d'Arts, and its name embodies three pillars: excellence, humility, and creativity.
Olivier Gaud's path to founding TAOS is one of rare immersion. Born in Switzerland in 1985, he developed his passion for watches at 20, studied horology under Philippe Cantin, and spent seven years at Christie's Geneva examining and cataloguing thousands of timepieces. His career also included positions at Cartier in London and Geneva. Before TAOS, he founded the OLIGO brand in 2021.
Every TAOS watch is a unique piece — "each dial is a work of art." The movements are exclusively produced by Télôs Watch, which developed a bespoke caliber (VOP318) for TAOS: an automatic movement with approximately 72 hours of power reserve, with bridges designed specifically to accommodate elaborate engraving work. All technical construction and casing is handled by Geesco, a Geneva atelier responsible for machining, stone-setting, and finishing from design plans through to final assembly.
TAOS watches are produced in micro-quantities in Geneva by the finest Swiss artisans. Each creation is described as essentially artistic — free from conformist constraints, born from the complete mastery of the workshop and the creative freedom that mastery enables.
