Soprod is the movement maker of the Festina Group, and one of the few Swiss houses that builds the regulating organ of a mechanical watch itself. It started in 1966 in Tramelan, in the Bernese Jura, when a group of local watchmakers pooled their movement expertise into a single company — the name is a contraction of Société de PRODuction. The quartz years nearly ended it, as they nearly ended the whole mechanical trade, but the company kept selling its calibres across Switzerland and into Germany instead of closing, and came out the other side. Four commitments have framed the business since the start: quality, customisation, service, and no minimum on order quantities — which is why it has always supplied the small independent as readily as the industrial manufacturer. In 2000 it gathered its scattered workshops into one modern site at Les Reussilles, and in 2008 it joined the Festina Group. In December 2023 it became Festina · Soprod Suisse, today around 300 people across six Swiss sites and one in France.

What sets it apart is what it makes in-house: balance wheels, hairsprings, pallet forks and escape wheels — the beating heart of a mechanical movement, and the part most brands have to buy. That vertical integration runs across the group's sites, with quartz movements produced in Sion, precision components in Saignelégier, and automatic mechanisms and complex modules developed and assembled at Les Reussilles. Its calibres drive watches inside and outside the group: Jaguar's Balancier collection has run on Soprod automatics since 2021, and Candino draws on the same movements.

In 2026 the manufacture marks sixty years, and does it with two new calibres: the P054 hand-wound and the M300 automatic, the latter with a power reserve beyond sixty hours. The group has also announced a high-complication, long-power-reserve movement for its flagship Festina brand.
