Founded in 1967 by William Sinclair and Mike Harding in Cheltenham, England, Sinclair Harding has spent over five decades crafting some of the world's finest mechanical clocks — each component designed, manufactured, finished, and assembled entirely in-house. In 1995, with the company on the verge of closure, Robert Bray (Bob) took the helm and redirected his engineering skills to the art of clockmaking, setting a single ambitious goal: to be completely independent and capable of making every part of every clock. That goal was fully realised in 2017.
Based in Emley, West Yorkshire, with an 11-strong team — mainly family — Sinclair Harding has produced over 1,000 clocks under Bob's leadership. Bob has since been appointed President of the British Horological Institute.
In 2025, after years of being asked the same question, Sinclair Harding entered watchmaking for the first time. The SH Bray Watch, built around the revered ETA 6498 movement, brings the brand's horological heritage to the wrist — considered, precise, and deliberately understated.
