Sherpa Watches is a German brand founded in 2019 by Martin Klocke to bring back the legendary Sherpa watches of the 1950s to 1970s. The name first appeared on a watch in 1956, when the original Enicar S.A. of Lengnau sponsored a Swiss expedition to Everest and Lhotse and named its most robust model after the Sherpa people who formed the backbone of the climb. Each Sherpa watch is hand built with German and Swiss watchmakers, case makers, dial makers and engineers, combining the revolutionary case designs of the past with modern techniques and materials, and each model is made in a limited series of 150 pieces in its watchmaker's atelier.
The Ultradive and the OPS are true compressor dive watches inspired by Enicar's mid-1960s models, with 40 mm cases and crown guards identical to the 1968 originals, an internal rotating diving bezel, 20 bar of water resistance, the EPSA-STOP bayonet compressor caseback and re-invented MONOFLEX compressor crowns. The Ultradive keeps the 1964 "double lollipop" seconds hand and comes in versions such as Atoll, Tuxedo, Moon, Sun and Satin, while the OPS has a black DLC-coated case. All are powered by the Mantramatic MM01, a gold-plated, decorated Sellita SW200-1 whose seconds and escape wheels are turned into micro Tibetan Buddhist prayer wheels, which the brand calls the first "spiritual complication". The Ultradive is priced at €6,400 in the EU.
