Founded in 1966 in Reconvilier, in the Jura watchmaking region of Switzerland, Richelieu was established by François-Joseph Pelletier, who built a team of over 60 qualified watchmakers and designers dedicated to producing Swiss made timepieces. For nearly five decades, the brand produced approximately 100,000 watches annually, regularly launching new models while maintaining strict Swiss made certification through components sourced entirely from the Jura region.

In 2015, Richelieu was acquired by Montres Edox & Vista SA, based in Les Genevez, Switzerland, to expand their range into a watch segment previously missing from their portfolio. Today, Richelieu offers a wide range of classic and fashion watches crafted in Switzerland, each undergoing meticulous quality inspections before sale and backed by an international two-year guarantee valid in over 50 countries.
