Pragma is an independent Swiss watch brand registered as Pragma Geneva Sàrl, co-founded by Kai Hsuan Liu (designer) and Christopher Wegener. Kai began designing mechanical watches in Taiwan in 2014 before studying at ECAL in Switzerland, where the two met and developed a shared vision for a new kind of Swiss watchmaking — one built on radical transparency, responsible innovation, and trust.
The brand's debut collection, the P1 – Perseverance, is a 39mm automatic chronometer (ISO 3159) powered by Pragma Caliber 1031-1, developed in partnership with Chronode SA. Its movement bridges and baseplate are made from 100% recycled Grade 5 titanium, while the case is crafted from Solar Stainless Steel — a 100% recycled steel melted using solar energy, produced by Panatere SA. Cases are manufactured by Voutilainen & Cattin SA. In total, 82.7% of the debut collection is composed of recycled materials.
Pragma's philosophy is captured in its tagline: "The Watchmaker You Can Trust." The brand publishes full material traceability documentation — naming every supplier and detailing the origin of every component — a level of honesty it considers the foundation of Swiss watchmaking: not just precision, but responsibility. Straps are made from CORDURA re/cor™ recycled material, and the caliber carries a 5-year guarantee.
Design inspiration draws from Swiss architectural traditions — Markli, Botta, and Zumthor among the references — blending nature's geometry with engineering rigour. As co-founder Christopher Wegener has stated: "Our watches honour clients, elevating Swiss craftsmanship, and minimising environmental impact — setting a new benchmark in watchmaking."
