Papar Watch Co. is a husband-and-wife creative duo, Josh and Emily, whose watches bring together brutalist influences and unexpected details, all recognisable at a glance. Its signature is a folded-steel case with an overlapping bezel and a colour-changing crescent moon that shifts through a spectrum of hues during the day. The name blends the Spanish words papel (paper) and doblar (to fold).
The first watch, the Anillo GMT, was designed in the high desert of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico: 36 mm, 12.1 mm thick, with a Miyota 9075 and a Functional Sector Dial whose 24 laser-cut sectors reveal a rotating GMT disc, in 200 numbered pieces at $750. The Cenote is a 40 mm titanium and ceramic diver of just 60 grams, rated to 200 m, with a Miyota 9015, a colour-gradient date disc and the brand's Lumè dial, at $995. The Vuelte is an 8.8 mm-thick steel wandering-hour watch on a Miyota 9039, limited to 100 numbered pieces at $1,150.
