OR3X is a Romanian watch brand born out of a personal memory. Its founder's first watch was an OREX, given to him by his father when he was eleven years old, and he wanted the first watch he created to be tied to that memory — which is how the brand came about. For him the watch is not merely an object but a link between generations and a new chapter of his life.
The design is influenced by the Bauhaus movement and by the objects manufactured in Romania during the 1980s and 1990s that marked his childhood: things that had a functional simplicity but also a particular beauty born of carefully considered details, and which taught him that aesthetics need not be complicated to be valuable. He loves old, durable objects created to be used over the long term — objects that do not die, do not wear out, and can be repaired and reused. In those days, he argues, the maker sought to create something sturdy and beautiful, leaving a mark on the details, an attitude he sees as an act of respect both toward the craft and toward whoever would use the object; many of the things made then still survive today and will be used for many years to come, proof that durability is the best form of sustainability. He built his watch with that same philosophy in mind: a homage to tradition and, at the same time, a statement that quality objects capable of crossing time can also be created in Romania. The brand operates as ORA EXACTA ATELIER S.R.L., and its debut is the R3START series.
