Murex is a Swiss watch brand produced in Le Locle, Switzerland — one of the most emblematic watchmaking towns in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. For more than 20 years, Murex watches have been designed and assembled at the Riba Watch factory in Le Locle, bringing together watchmaking know-how, qualified craftsmen, industrial expertise, and technological skills in the pursuit of quality.
Murex holds a distinctive place within the Riba Watch Group: it was the first brand to emerge from the group, carrying its strongest historical roots and serving as the standard-bearer for the group's commitment to Swiss quality. The brand specialises in a wide range of fashionable automatic and quartz watches, introducing around 20 new models each year across two ranges: fashion and diamond. In some cases, the precision demanded by production means that a single model can take several months to complete.
The name MUREX was not chosen by chance. It derives from a shell whose principal property, in Antiquity, was the production of purple — a deep red dye reserved exclusively for the elite. This heritage informs the brand's identity: Murex positions its wearers as today's elite of watchmaking creation, offering high-end quality timepieces for individuals of character.
In 2025, Murex undertook a redesign of its visual identity — Better in Purple — returning to its creative origins and reaffirming the values encoded in its name: tradition, ambition, and a futuristic vision of the mid-range watch segment.
