Moriarty is an Irish independent watchmaking atelier founded by Alison Moriarty — a Swiss-trained watchmaker and self-taught enamelist based in Ballyblood, Tulla, County Clare. A graduate of the Irish Swiss Institute of Horology and one of the youngest ever graduates of the prestigious WOSTEP Academy of Watchmaking in Switzerland, Alison combines rigorous technical training with a deeply personal artistic vision rooted in the landscapes and elemental beauty of rural Ireland. Every Moriarty watch is designed, made, and assembled in-house, from the enamel dials to the final casing. The defining signature of the brand is the ancient technique of grand feu enamelling: each dial is hand-painted with powdered glass and fired in a kiln at approximately 800°C multiple times to achieve its characteristic richness, depth, and luminosity. No machinery is used beyond the kiln itself. A single dial takes approximately 40 hours to complete — the result of six years of developing traditional enamel methods and crafting bespoke colour mixes entirely by hand. Moriarty movements are rigorously tested through six positions and adjusted to chronometer standards of accuracy, with every piece undergoing a 10-day testing period before leaving the workshop. Collections evoke the moods of the Irish landscape — the emerald glow of Hibernia, the warmth of Marigold, the quiet stillness of Winter's Night — and no two watches are exactly alike. Each is a made-to-order, one-of-a-kind work of mechanical art.
