GRECO-Genève is an independent Swiss brand of high-end watches founded by Stéphane Greco. Its starting point was not a design but a supply chain: after three decades of watch subcontracting for leading luxury brands, the founder turned his mastery of exclusive processes into a brand of his own. Every model in the collection is conceived, designed, created, assembled, inspected and packaged in the brand's own workshops in Plan-les-Ouates, in the canton of Geneva, and carries the Swiss Made label under the criteria set by the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry. The movements are Swiss, chosen from those widely used in high horology for their reliability, robustness and ease of repair worldwide.
The design language comes from motorsport and aeronautics. The hexagonal case of the "Les Temps Modernes" collection was born during one of the founder's car racing competitions: the central nut of a racing wheel became the case, and the tyre tread was replicated on the bracelet. That hexagon is now the brand's signature shape. Materials follow the same logic — Grade 5 titanium for its lightness, strength and corrosion resistance, and carbon — and most timepieces are unique pieces or can be personalised, from a range of colours and finishes to a dial designed by the customer.
The other brand signature is invisible in daylight. Most collections use fluorescence revealed under ultraviolet light, produced with pigments derived from rare materials — the same kind used on banknotes to make them counterfeit-proof. GRECO-Genève states that it is the only brand in the world authorised to integrate this rare-earth element into watches. The catalogue runs to six exclusive collections, among them Timesquare, Trancetime, Les Temps Modernes in automatic and chronograph form, Timelace, Esquisse and, more recently, Majesty and Sapphire.
