Constantime is a small independent watch atelier in Târgu Mureș, in the heart of Transylvania, founded by Constantin A. Mureșan. Before watchmaking he spent many years as a chocolatier, a craft that taught him patience and precision, while a lifelong fascination with mechanics led him to build his own 3D printer in 2011 and, later, a workshop with CNC equipment. The brand's watches are built on Swiss mechanical movements, while the dials, hands and visual identity of each model are developed, made and finished in-house. Its long-term goal is to bring more of each watch into Transylvania, from proprietary cases and locally made straps to, one day, a movement of its own.
The first model, Genesis (ref. COT.02.01), is a 41 mm, 11 mm-thick 316L steel watch with sapphire crystal front and back and 50 m of water resistance. Its brass dial, engraved and hand-finished in the atelier, draws on the vaulted arches of Transylvania's fortified churches, and its sword-shaped brass hands are also made in-house. It runs on the Swiss-made DB9 hand-wound movement (21,600 vph, 19 jewels, 45 hours of power reserve) with small seconds at nine o'clock, and comes on a leather strap handmade by a local artisan. Genesis is limited to 25 numbered pieces, made to order at €1,300. Two further models, the classical Aeterna and the explorer-themed Terra, are in development, and the atelier also makes personalised pieces to order.
