Col&McArthur is a Belgian watch brand that turns the great events and figures of history into commemorative timepieces, designed and assembled in its own workshop in the Liège region. Its story began in 2013, when a meeting between Sébastien Colen and a former member of the British Royal Guard led to a first watch dedicated to a regiment's heritage. The company started out making watches for communities and regiments before moving to commemorative pieces, with models such as Armistice 1918 and Lunar 1969 becoming its signatures.
Each collection, grouped into universes such as Battlefront, Interstellar, Performance, Icons and Visionaries, carries an authentic element tied to its subject: sand from the D-Day beaches and a dial made from a genuine Second World War M1 helmet in the Normandie 1944, a fragment of lunar meteorite NWA 11515 in the Lunar 1969, a piece of the Berlin Wall in the Berlin 1989, and asphalt, kerbstones and steel from the Uniroyal tower of the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in the officially licensed Francorchamps 1921. The brand also works with rights holders such as Universal Music France for its Céline Dion collection, and with the Sarton family for the Sarton 1748, a tribute to the Liège watchmaker credited with an early self-winding rotor.
Movements range from Swiss Ronda quartz and Japanese Miyota automatics to Swiss Sellita calibres, including the SW200-1 automatic, the SW500 chronograph in the Francorchamps 1921 and the hand-wound SW210-1 in the Céline Dion Prestige, limited to 2,026 pieces. Every watch is numbered, and prices run from €359 to €2,949, sold online and at the brand's showroom in Alleur by appointment.
