CEON Watch Co. is an independent Brazilian maker of mechanical timepieces, working under the motto Perpetuating Time and describing its watches as timepieces to carry on the human story. The house is the work of Ricardo A. Gracioli, a Brazilian turbine engineer who found in watchmaking the place where every part of him — turbine engineer, draftsman, student of materials — could be put to a single task. His guiding idea is a tribute to the anonymous makers of history: as he writes, many important inventions were made by Someone whose name we will never know, and they did not do it for our recognition.

Most of the work happens at the bench, in hours of focus on parts so small they would otherwise pass unnoticed — components filed, polished, returned to and held to the light. Gracioli is explicit that the human hand will never make machine-perfect lines; what it makes are lines that tell a story, his mood in every stroke and the concentration of the moment caught in the metal, with the result only as perfect as his attention allows. The brand's first watch is the GR-01, presented as a tribute to human ingenuity materialised in steel — a watch made to witness the stories still to come and to remind us of what we are capable of, given the time. Alongside the timepieces, the maker publishes a weekly journal recording the victories and challenges of the project.
