Candino was founded in 1947 by the watchmaker Adolf Flury-Hug, in a small workshop next to his family home in Herbetswil, in the Swiss canton of Solothurn. That workshop is still standing, now beside the modern manufacture the company opened in 1989 — a literal picture of what the brand trades on. Candino belongs to one of the few watchmaking groups able to cover every stage of production itself, from design and development through the manufacture of mechanical components to final assembly, and it is that vertical integration rather than any marketing claim that underpins its Swiss Made positioning. The brand is sold in more than sixty countries.

Its movements come from Soprod, the group's own manufacture, which spreads the work across six specialised Swiss sites: quartz movements are produced in Sion, precision components in Saignelégier, and automatic mechanisms and complex modules developed and assembled at Les Reussilles. The watches themselves use stainless steel, ceramic and titanium cases, quartz or mechanical automatic movements, two- and three-hand, date, multifunction and chronograph layouts, hardened mineral or sapphire crystal, water resistance to 10 ATM, and straps in ceramic, leather, rubber, steel and titanium, with zircons on some ladies' references.

Four collections carry the range. Couple Classic pairs matched men's and women's watches; Lady Elegance is the fine-lined women's line; Ceramic combines a ceramic bracelet and bezel with sapphire crystal; and Automatic is the mechanical line, aimed at buyers who want the movement rather than the battery.
