Bradley Taylor is a Canadian independent watchmaker working from his own workshop in North Vancouver. He trained in Le Locle, at the Korpela & Hofs Watchmaking Competence Centre under Henrik Korpela, completing the 4,500-hour diploma programme in 2015 and building a prototype movement for his school watch before heading back to Canada. He then spent several years in after-sales service, picking up manufacturer certifications including Patek Philippe's Level II training in Geneva, and in 2017 co-founded Birchall & Taylor with a former classmate, whose Reference 1 and 1R used enamel dials by Donzé Cadrans and movements by Vaucher.
The first watch under his own name came in 2020, after a move west to Vancouver. The Paragon, made with dialmaker Comblémine and Canadian typographer Ian Brignell, is a 39 mm steel three-hander with hand-polished purple hands, 120 m of water resistance and a hand-finished Vaucher 5401/32 automatic with a hand-guilloché 22K rotor. The Lutria followed in 2022 on the same case and movement, with an ocean-turquoise guilloché dial drawn from the coast of his new home. Both series are sold out.
The Ardea, unveiled in 2026 after four years of work, is his first watch with an in-house movement and dial: the manual-wind Calibre 475 RS, with a retrograde seconds of his own design, a solid gold gear train and a titanium and platinum balance, under a depletion-gilded silver dial guilloché-cut on a rose engine he restored himself. Its applied numerals are machined from solid platinum, which he believes is a first in watchmaking. Limited to 50 pieces in platinum or steel, it is allocated only from the workshop, with a wait of around four years. Earlier in 2026 Taylor received the Horological Society of New York's Independent Watchmaker Grant.
