Archimede is a German mechanical watch brand produced by Ickler GmbH, a family-owned manufactory founded in Pforzheim in 1924 — now in its fourth generation of family ownership. The company began in the basement of founder Karl Ickler's residence, where he applied the experience he had gained as a production manager for international companies to build a precision watch case manufactory at the foot of the Black Forest. After production was brought to a standstill during the war, Karl's sons Heinz and Kurt Ickler rebuilt the facilities in 1947 and continued the family's craft. Today, Archimede operates as a true in-house manufactory: every project phase — design, engineering, prototyping, parts manufacturing, surface finishing, laser engraving, assembly, and quality control — is carried out at the Pforzheim facility. The brand is especially known for its heat-blued steel hands, produced in-house through a specialized thermal process and coated with Super-LumiNova for outstanding legibility day and night. Its case material of choice is hardened 316L stainless steel (up to 1200 HV), machined with state-of-the-art CNC centers. Collections span pilot watches (the Pilot range in 36–45mm), sport divers (the Sporttaucher series), the Outdoor tool watch family, the 1950 retro-styled line, the marine-inspired Deckwatch, and the dress-oriented Klassik — all powered by proven Swiss movements from ETA and Sellita. With over a century of continuous production in Germany, Archimede stands as one of the few independent European watch manufacturers still making cases and complete watches entirely in-house.
