The company's founder, Achilles Ditesheim, renames the company Movado, which is an Esperanto word that means "always in motion."
1945
AUTOMATIC MOVEMENTS The first automated watch from Movado, the Tempomatic, is now available. This self-winding mechanism marked the beginning of a tradition of excellence that continues to this day.
1947
Nathan George Horwitt is the first artist to look at time as a design concept, and he is the one who makes The Movado Museum Watch, which is known for its single dot watch dial.
1960
MOMA Horwitt's design is the first watch dial to be included to the permanent collection at New York's Museum of Modern Art, ensuring its position in design history.
