For over a century, Mido has been a paragon of precision, reliability, and timeless design in the world of horology. Since its founding in 1918 by Georges Schaeren in Biel/Bienne, Switzerland, Mido has committed itself to crafting watches that combine technical innovation with classic aesthetics. Today, the brand continues to thrive, bridging its rich heritage with modern pursuits, most notably through its partnership with Red Bull Cliff Diving.
Mido and Red Bull Cliff Diving: A Perfect Partnership
Mido’s partnership with Red Bull Cliff Diving is a testament to the brand’s enduring commitment to precision and adventure. Red Bull Cliff Diving, known for its thrilling displays of athleticism and bravery, sees elite divers plunge from heights exceeding 20 meters into the ocean, performing breathtaking acrobatics along the way. It’s a sport that demands not only peak physical condition but also impeccable timing—qualities that resonate deeply with Mido’s core values.
This partnership is not just a marketing collaboration but a synergy of two entities that value precision and excellence. The divers’ need for perfect timing in their jumps is mirrored by Mido’s dedication to crafting watches that are precise to the millisecond. This connection between the brand’s ethos and the sport’s demands is what makes the partnership so natural and compelling.
Mido’s Legacy in Watchmaking
Mido’s connection with the world of adventure and sports is part of a broader narrative of innovation and excellence. The brand has a storied history of producing watches that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also technically superior. Mido’s use of cutting-edge technology, such as silicon balance springs and COSC-certified chronometers, ensures that their watches are among the most accurate and reliable in the market.
Throughout the event, the new Mido Ocean Star 600 Chronometer was prominently displayed, reflecting Mido's role as the official performance partner. In discussions with several athletes, it became clear that while the dives themselves aren't timed, the sport revolves around the concept of time and timing. A dive, typically lasting less than 4 seconds, requires athletes to execute precise, well-practiced movements, often repeated hundreds of times to achieve perfection. This emphasis on precision and timing is what inspired Mido to create the Ocean Star 600 Chronometer. The watch embodies the exacting standards required in such a demanding sport, offering both reliability and accuracy that athletes can depend on, whether they're in training or competition.

The Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series stop in Montreal was nothing short of spectacular, with each diver pouring their heart into every dive, captivating fans with their daring performances. We had the distinct pleasure of chatting with both winners of the Montreal stop—Molly Carlson and Aidan Heslop—who shared their thoughts on the incredible experience.
Molly Carlson, originally from Montreal, had a particularly special weekend. Living just a stone's throw from the venue, she felt the energy of the hometown crowd as she executed near-flawless dives to claim her second victory of the season. Her win wasn’t just a triumph; it was a celebration of her deep connection to the city and its support, propelling her and her fellow divers to new heights.
On the men's side, Aidan Heslop Mido Friend of the Brand from the UK edged out the competition to stand atop the podium, leaving behind Constantin Popovici and Yolotl Martinez. His victory added an international flair to the event, but he couldn’t help but express his admiration for the warm reception he received in Montreal.
Despite not being satisfied with his result and performance in Montreal, Mido friend of the brand Jonathan Paredes still holds the #6 spot in the current standings. With two stops remaining—September 29th in Antalya, Türkiye, and November 10th in Sydney, Australia—there's still a chance for him to climb higher and finish the season strong.
Fellow Canadians Simone Leathead and Aimee Harrison also competed fiercely, showcasing their skills in a field brimming with talent. The Montreal stop was more than just a competition; it was a homecoming for some and a welcoming stage for others, making it an unforgettable chapter in this year's series.
A Commitment to Excellence
Mido’s partnership with Red Bull Cliff Diving is more than just a collaboration; it’s a celebration of shared values—precision, performance, and the pursuit of excellence.
