FROM RENNES TO TAG HEUER: A SMALL WORLD IN WATCHMAKING

FROM RENNES TO TAG HEUER: A SMALL WORLD IN WATCHMAKING

The watch industry is full of fascinating stories. Some are about incredible timepieces. Others are about the people behind them. And sometimes, those stories connect in the most unexpected ways.

This week, it was announced that Béatrice Goasglas has been appointed the new CEO of TAG Heuer after serving as President of the Americas.

For those who have followed her career, this appointment feels like a natural next step. Over the years, she has built an impressive trajectory across marketing, digital transformation, and customer experience before leading the Americas region.

But what made this news feel especially personal to me is a small coincidence that reminds me how incredibly small the world can be.

I was born in Paris, but when I was 14 years old, my family moved to Rennes, in Brittany. Rennes is a beautiful city, historic, vibrant, and home to Rennes School of Business, one of the most international business schools in France.

Years later, after traveling the world, life brought me back to Rennes in the most unexpected way: it’s where I met my wife, who at the time was an exchange student at Rennes School of Business.

And here comes the twist.

While reading about Béatrice Goasglas’ career, I discovered that she also studied at Rennes School of Business around 2004–2005.

Suddenly, a simple industry headline felt strangely personal.

Two students. Same city. Same school. Same time.

One goes on to build a global career and eventually becomes CEO of one of Switzerland’s most iconic watch brands.

The other meets her future husband there, brings him to Canada, and years later he launches WatchDNA — a platform dedicated to connecting the global watch community.

Different paths. Same city. Same school. Same passion for an industry that connects people across borders.

Moments like this remind me that the watch industry — despite being global — is still a remarkably human and interconnected world.

So congratulations to Béatrice Goasglas on this incredible milestone.

From Rennes to the global stage of Swiss watchmaking — it’s a journey that perfectly reflects what makes this industry so special.

The world of watches is big… but the community behind it is wonderfully small.
