VACHERON CONSTANTIN REDEFINES HOROLOGICAL EXCELLENCE WITH THE LES CABINOTIERS SOLARIA ULTRA GRAND COMPLICATION

At Watches and Wonders 2025, Vacheron Constantin stunned the horology world by unveiling the Les Cabinotiers Solaria Ultra Grand Complication—now officially the most complicated mechanical wristwatch ever created. With 63 complications and 2,877 components, this masterpiece eclipses its predecessor, the Berkley Grand Complication pocket watch, proving the Maison’s relentless pursuit of innovation.

A Symphony of Timekeeping

Beyond mere hours and minutes, this wristwatch is a celestial storyteller. It tracks solar position, sidereal time (Earth’s true rotation), and solar days (adjusted for Earth’s elliptical orbit). A rotating zodiac disc reveals when constellations will next grace the night sky, while four miniature gongs chime with cathedral-like resonance.

Miniaturization Meets Mastery

Condensing such complexity into a 45mm white gold case (half the size of the Berkley pocket watch) demanded eight years of R&D. Thirteen patents protect its innovations, including a groundbreaking Chinese perpetual calendar—mechanically programmed until 2200—and a hyper-precise astronomical plate. Christian Selmoni, Vacheron’s Heritage Director, calls it a “feat of miniaturization,” blending 2,877 components into a wearable work of art.

For the Stars

Astronomy takes center stage: solar trajectory, equatorial angles, and a star visibility indicator cater to celestial enthusiasts. Meanwhile, 18k gold, sapphire discs, and hand-finished components (including 200 jewels) ensure every detail radiates luxury.

Legacy of Complications

While the Berkley’s 63-complication pocket watch remains unmatched in scale, the Solaria Ultra redefines what’s possible on the wrist. Its creation—11 years in development, including one year just for assembly—embodies Vacheron’s 269-year legacy of pushing boundaries.

For collectors and aficionados, this isn’t just a watch. It’s a mechanical cosmos—a testament to human ingenuity, worn on the wrist.
