George Sully is a multidisciplinary designer, entrepreneur, and advocate whose influence spans fashion, community building, and creative storytelling. Known widely for founding Black Designers of Canada, a national platform that celebrates and elevates Black creative talent. Sully has built a legacy of visibility, inclusion, and opportunity in industries where Black voices have historically been overlooked.
Black Designers of Canada: A Platform With Purpose
Black Designers of Canada (BDC) stands as Canada’s first comprehensive directory of Black designers, spotlighting creatives working across fashion, graphic design, interior design, industrial design, and more. Launched in 2020 by Sully, the platform was born from his own experiences navigating systemic barriers within the design world, and from a desire to make Black creative talent accessible and visible to industry and public alike.
What began as an online index has since grown into a thriving community of designers and advocates who share work, build networks, and influence culture. Alongside recognition initiatives like the BDC Award of Excellence, the platform actively reshapes how Canada celebrates creative contributions from Black artists and designers.
